My Great Grandmother

I am very much interested in my family history on my great grandmothers side. My grandfather had told me his mother was Indian, and that his mother had a very hard life, I met her when I was about 5 years old back in 1958 at that time she was in her early 90's
I quickly became attached to her in the short time I got to spend with her. I loved to watch her take her hair down at night, to brush it. Her hair was longer than she was tall it was black as coal with one small grey streak that went from the top to almost the very ends. (Like a widows peak)
She had the most beautiful brown eyes that smiled, and she had a wonderful sense of humor. Very sharp & witty for someone in their 90's. Love just radiated from her, and I remember following her around like a puppy dog. That was the first and last visit I had with her, but I have never forgotten her.
Now I want to know who her parents were, I have not had much luck so far as locating any documents. I was told she was born in MI.
