I have now traced my maternal grandmother's family back to the UK. Her name was Elizabeth Margaret Hall (later Tunstall). Her parents were Amy (nee Robinson) and Samuel Hall. Samuel, at age 13 years, accompanied his parents and older siblings to New Zealand on The Bombay.

I have found the site of the New Zealand Geneology Society extremely useful.

I've been pleased to be able to trace my maternal grandfather's family back through a couple of generations.

He was William Tunstall born Crosspit Lane, Rainford, Lancs.16th August 1868. His parents were John and Margaret (nee Owen), they were married on August 6th 1855 in Rainford, Lancs. They had two children who I can trace - William (my grandfather) and an older brother by 5 yrars, John. John Snrs parents were Peter and Sarah. I have Sarah's birth year as 1803.

I contacted the local historical society in Lancashire and they kindly sent me a copy of John and Margaret's marriage registration.

Mary Cotterell born in Enford UK on 1816 married William Rawlins in Enford UK on 4th June 1838. They came to Australia in 1845. Had 10 children. She died on 2nd March 1888 in Steelton South Australia.

My ancestor, William Rawlins c1814-1890, came from England and settled initially in South Australia in 1845.

He married Mary Cotterell on 4th June 1838 in ENford UK (she was born in 1816 and died 2nd March 1888 in SOuth Australia. She was the daughter of a Stephen Cotterell. She had 10 children.

My great-aunt was Ellen Lydia Baguley (nee Hall). She had two children: Thomas Hall Baguley - B: 20th July 1908 D: 1984; Howard John Baguley - B: 13th April 1910 D: 1975.

My maternal grandfather was William Tunstall. Born 16th August 1868 in Crosspit Lane, Rainford, County of Lancaster, England to John Tunstall and Margaret Tunstall (nee Owen).

William died in Melbourne on 7th April 1961.

William married Elizabeth Margaret Hall on 1st December 1920. Elizabeth Hall was from New Zealand.

At some stage in his life he changed his name to Westwell-Tunstall (we believe before he came to Australia).

William claimed to have two daughters from a previous marriage - our only names are Mrs. V.A.Kermish, Derby Castle Avenue, Douglas, Isle of Man and Mrs. C.E. Kermode, 11 Victoria Parade, Douglas, Isle of Man.

My grandmother, Elizabeth Margaret Hall, was born in New Zealand in 1878. Her father was Samuel and her mother, Amy.
Amy died when Grandma (Elizabeth) was about 5.
Samuel re-married.
Elizabeth came to Australia around the turn of the century and never returned to New Zealand. She lived in Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia. She had siblings and I would like to find some of the family descendants.
She married William Westwell-Tunstall and had one child, Aimee Margaret(my mother).
