I am a retired newspaperman and decided a number of years ago that I would collect together as much information as I could on my branch of the Haddow, Bateson and Routledge families, preserve it in some form for my grandchildren and those that followed them. Being the oldest child of Wilfred Haddow and Catherine Elizabeth 'Betty' Haddow I can remember my grandparents and recall different conversations that I had with them. Being a naturally curious type, I asked a lot of questions. My brothers and sisters were a bit too young to remember much, so I felt a responsibility to record as much as I could. This is my gift to my family.
