Hi David here is my 2 cents worth from N.Z.

In 1980's I had a Snr Ranger who was in charge of all the Wild Animal Control(W.A.C.,E.F.) People who worked in the N,Z.Native Bush in what was known at the time as the Eastern Bay Of Plenty.(E.B.O.P.)For the old N.Z.Forest Service, which was closed down back in 1987.
He was a well known and well liked kind of a chap, with a big heart,I would have walked on fire for this chap. He was one of a few.
He had been in the Merchant Navy during W.W.2.
The only name I new him by was Harry Vipond who had a wife,1 daughter & 1 Son.
Around the roar of 1986 (winter time) while on duty in the bush he was shot and killed by accident.
Poor Harry was buried in the R.S.A.Cemetery in Rotorua, near where he and others trained many off us at F.R.I.
If Harry had lived he would be around 85 today.
