Hello, I was interested to read your post about Whyte in Fife.

I have a Charlotte Whyte who I have tentatively listed as marrying John William Thomas in 1838 in the Islington area.

There is a very strong connection to Fife, however, and I am not 100% sure I have that right.

Known Facts:
Charlotte Whyte had a daughter Elizabeth Thomas married to Adam Leslie had a daughter named Charlotte Whyte Leslie this family was born, raised and died in Kirkauldy.

I would be interested to know if you Can connect with this family.
Thank you for any information.

Hi Jen, Could be a link as our family is from about 6 - 8 km from Kirkcaldy in Leslie and Lochgelly.
I am trying to confirm parents and siblings of James Whyte and Mary Ann. Unfortunately Scotlands People and National Archives don't have their Marriage or Birth on File but hope to have it soon. It may be the missing link. Unfortunately this all takes time as everything has to be posted from Scotland to Australia every time I find a new source. On line records are very limited in this period in these areas. Charlotte is not a name used in our tree so I would think that a Whyte married someone by the name of Charlotte going by the use of names throughout our family history. eg. Typical male names are James, John, William and Mathew, used for at least 6 generations that I know of.
Anyway, sorry I can't answer your question yet but will let you know if I find that link.
Thanks, David
