I've looked extensively and I can't find much accurate information. I was told his listed father, Thomas Lemon Beard, is actually his stepfather and his original name was Strausbaugh. I have found a census with listed him as Strausbaugh when he was 2 years old. But no one can tell me how his name became Beard or where i should go from there.
