WILLIAM EDMONDS -- ( 1828 ---- 1897 ) & ( 3 ) SISTERS

Journal by edmondsallan

edmondsallan - Good morning all . I thought this morning we could write about William , 3rd son of John Samuel Edmonds . We don't read or hear much about this son of our original ancester , mainly because after he married his wife " Emmaline Marie Shearer ( nee Irving )" she was married before ,) they had no children . While " William " was growing up , he was like " Joseph " ---- the Quite ones of the family .William took things a bit easier in his youth than his brothers . However , he was in demand , especially from his " wine woman & song " brothers, because of his self taught abilities to play several Instruments . He could play the organ , piano, Violin , flute , & guitar and with his fine tenor voice , could bring a party a live.
It was always said , he inherited these musical abilities from his mothers side of the family , especially her father . who as a sea captain excelled in playing the violin. The " boys " could all sing . Samuel & Arthur had rich deep voices, Joseph & William , fine tenor voices ,while - Henry , Alfred , John Tucker & Ruben could sing but at times had been accused of just having the voice ability to call the " pigs & cows ".
I have not written much about the girls although their is plenty of info . They all grew up well behaved & well disciplined . Except
" Jane " who had no musical ability at all , but could often beat her brothers in wrestling , archery and was often told off by her Mother , for such " tomboy behaviour " Sarah & Matilda " had beautiful soprano voices & often gave recitals at the church , and at local residential get togethers . The girls all grew up into very nice young ladies , got married and lived happily ever after . We could follow their lives as individual . but I think as readers you would see they led , hard working very quite lifes .
Back to William , sometimes he played the organ at church for his father. I think this helped him tremenously when he came home late at times having been to a musical evening or recital with his wife to be , who was a very talented Piano player. When they started to live in Auckland as a married couple . Not only did " Emmaline " give Piano recitals on her own , but also gave recitals, or played the piano
with quite large orchestras publicly. Later on she taught the piano, as a living . William worked as a storeman ,became storeman manager up to the age of ( 65 ) Along with his wife they often gave musical evenings and invited their friends in Auckland . William kept up his musical interests all his life until he died in 1897 ( 69 ) at his home .
We have now covered all of our original ancester's family.
" John Samuel Edmonds " The journals that have been placed before you to peruse , contain about a quarter ( 1/4 ) of our ancestral information in our personal " EDMONDS FAMILY TREE " books from _
( Book 1 & Book 2 ) out of the ( 5 ) books . I am still researching & compiling our Edmonds clan , on both the European & Maori sides from their beginning to the end .including , another book on my personal life & parents .
Their are still one or two , who are trying to cash in - by Book and CD . Be warned . Don't . I have deliberately put in some mistakes that I will edited out within 6 months, shorter / longer just as I have already done in the older journals. I tested the " smarties " who just changed gear & offered the new researchers to hand over more monies . So when the last two of you cease I will edit the later journals. The sooner you stop flogging the " Edmonds" the better for everyone . This will give anybody out their a chance to read / gather the info available to them . without paying an excessive prices . In other words , those who are flogging the whanau , money wise , it could cost you if what you have sold is incorrect & they want a refund !!! Just be fair and be reasonable in recovering your costs . Ok enough of trying to keep up a standard ,for the benefit of all .Having been " taken for a ride " a few times myself around the world in my research ,I despise these " sharks !!! " It is time for me to complete some other ancestral work . a change is as good as a rest . Till we meet again - Regards - Edmondsallan
