Hi Patrice, James Kelly is a new name to me but my great grandmother was Ada Grace McGovern who married James Joseph Moore in 1890. Until yesterday I had assumed that Edward McGovern had died in 1867 but I've now come across other people who say he died in 1904 in Gunnedah. I've been perusing the NSWBDM for hours today and the births of some of those children you mention are registered just as Brotherwood's --- I haven't checked for Minnie Avery yet. I would appreciate any information you have on Edward McGovern, Agnes Brotherwood and Ada Grace McGovern.

Hi Patrice
The info I have is that there was a James Kelly born 13 Sept 1832 at Parramatta and died Narrabri 1917. He had a brother Henry who was born 28 Jul 1847 at Parramatta and died 22 Jul 1921 at Narrabri. I found this on family search website.
Father was Arthur Christopher Kelly born abt 1806 at Belfast, County Antrim, Northern Ireland and died on 18 Jul 1839 at Whyanbah, Queensland. He came to Australia as convict onboard the "Minstrel", crime unknown. It sailed from Portsmouth, Hampshire, England on 17 Apr 1825 and arrived in Sydney, NSW on 22 Aug 1825.
Mother was Margaret Abraham born 16 May 1813 at Swansea, West Glamorgan, Wales and died 16 Jun 1886 at Narrabri. She also came to Aust as convict
They married on 21 Aug 1839 at Castlereagh Church of England, NSW .
I am descendent from Henry Kelly and have just started doing family history so would be interested in any info you have on James Kelly and descendants.
You may find more info on website www.tribalpages.com where various people have lodged family histories and you need to contact the administrator of the family site you want to view and ask if you can view it and explain your link. I am currently waiting to view this myself.
I think this is the same James Kelly you are looking for.

Vicki Kay (grand-daughter of Eileen Kelly born 1905 of Narrabri who was daughter of Margaret Kelly born 1873 at Narrabri and daughter of Henry Kelly)

Hi Vicki
Yes this is definately the same James Kelly.
Email me at keeganfamilytree@live.com and I'll send you what I have.
I know James raised my Great grandmother, as she went by the name of Minnie Ada Kelly but was born Edith Victoria Avery. She told my great uncle that she was born an Avery but raised as a Kelly. Her mother was Agnes Brotherwood ( partnered to James Kelly).
I have contacts for James' descendants too.
looking forward to hearing from you.
Patrice.
