after william brick died emma married a man named Curren. i am sorry i don't know about the children

Emma was to marry three times and sadly buried all her husbands and most of her children. My mother remembered her grand mother on her farm in Te Aroha during the 1930's as a hard woman of exacting standards yet would clothe and feed any hobo that passed by. Even in her old age could still kill and dress a sheep and shoot a pheasant, promptly at 7:00 pm it was on your knees for the rosary, no exceptions allowed!.
In my mothers 1930's Te Aroha there were still many Kennedy and Brick relations throughout the town

1886 -1932 William Thomas Brick married Ida Smith in Bangalow, Aust 1917. Their children were Colin, Patricia, Emma, Letitia, Ida, Monica, Silvester, Gilbert

1887 - 1922 Silvester James Brick
- Silvester married Catherine MABER in 1916 Their children were Monica and Olive. Silvester, Monica and Olive all died within a few years of each other of TB in the 1920's, they are buried in the same row as are the other Brick cousins in Te Aroha cemetary. Aunt Kitty as she was known never remarried and lived to a ripe old age into the early 1980's. Aunt Kitty was a very kind lady as I remember her as a child, My mother who was also her daughters name sake aswell her aunts doted on Kitty. Aunt Kitty remained in what had been her family home until her death.

1888 - 1910 Olive Magdelen Brick,married Daniel CULLEN in 1908 + then Kitty Brick ??
I have no Kitty Brick in my family tree for William and Emma but I do have a Catherine Brick as the elder sister and her nikname may have been Kitty as was popular at the time.

I checked my Brick family tree and it shows that after Catherine Brick died Dan Cullen married Olive Brick so the chidren from both marriages were brothers and sisters aswell as cousins. I queried this with my mum before she died the other year and she confirmed that Dan Cullen had married both sisters.

Catherine Maber was always known as Aunt Kitty in our branch of the family

Looking through my family history box I have also found a family photo taken around 1887 which has Sophia Kennedy, William & Emma, Catherine, Monica and baby William taken before William and Emma went north. Do you have this ?

Emma and William moved to Kaponga area and William died and was buried there. She married Thomas Alexander Stephen Curran 10 Nov 1901. They lived on their farm and moved to Te e Aroha west and farmed there. They took her children with them and adopted 4 boys in 1903/4 to bring up as their own. l am the grandchild of one of them. They are buried in the cemetary there too, so is the next generation. To the person who has the photo, ld sure like to see it too, if possible

Hello, my husband is also a grandson of one of the adopted boys, John Bruce Curran. We believe there was a name change from Gaythorne? Does anyone have information on this?
