I certainly recognize this family as I've come to know their ancestors quite well. My 4g grandfather Charles Bennetts (b. 1765 Perranzabuloe) has been leading me on a merry dance through time. I've been unable to establish his parentage because the parish registers for that period are severely water damaged. His page looks like it has a big hole in it -- as does my family tree. So, I've been trying to solve the mystery by researching the antecedents of his presumed siblings and cousins. Two Phillip Bennetts were baptized in your 4g grandfather's time frame with the first being the son of John and Elizabeth bp 2 Aug 1772. The more-likely candidate would be Phillip, son of Phillip (aka Filip) and Jenefer bp 25 April, 1779. Sibs included Edward (25 Apr 1773), Elizabeth (28 Apr 1775), Ann (20 Jul 1777), Wm (29 Oct 1787) and Unknown (9 Aug 1789), with unknown being another victim of water damage. Phillip 1779 was mostly likely the son of Phillip and Jane Bennetts of Perranzabuloe. It's been some time since you made this post so you might have already completed your research. I'm wondering if you've ever bumped into my mysterious Charles Bennetts and his wife Elizabeth Paul? Wendy/Canada

Hello Wendy from Canada,

I have searched hi and low but do not have any notes concerning a Charles Bennetts b. 1795 Perranabuloe. There is also no Charles in the naming pattern as we move forward in time.

I have very little concrete evidence concerning Hezekiah Bennetts ancestors, so I read with interest your thoughts.

On Hezekiah's Australian death certificate in 1900 his parents were stated as William Bennetts and Nancy Unknown. I'm fairly certain this is incorrect, and that the informant their daughter Rebecka who immigrated with her parents at the age of 7 may not have even remembered her grandparents names.

Sorry I can't be of much more help. I'll post up the little I know as a journal. If I come across anything I will let you know.
Cheers,
Sandra
