John Shortridge was my 3 x Great-Grandfather. I have a large amount of information on my Ancestry.com family tree about him & other members of his family . I've acquired his death certificate just recently which told me that he married twice. His first wife Agnes Hill he married in Scotland. I'm descended from this marriage. They arrived at Port Phillip, Victoria in Oct 1852 on the ship 'Montgomery',with 3 children, including my 2 x Great-Grandmother Agnes. I do not know what happened to his first wife Agnes, because he married his second wife Rebecca Lunn in Adelaide on 29 Jan 1853. Rebecca Lunn was born in Woolwich, Kent, UK on 25 Aug 1831. They had a total of 8 children. Two daughters, Rebecca & Agnes (different Agnes to my 2 x Great-Granmother), married two brothers, William & Thomas Gasson.
If you aren't a member of Ancestry.com, & don't wish to join, but would like more information, you could email me at pjmcl@melbpc.org.au & I could send you further information.
Best wishes,
Peter McLennan, South Melbourne.

Great to hear from you Peter, you are a ray of sunshine. Do you have any old photos of Shortridge family members? Thankyou for confirming the arrival in 1852. It is a mystery what happened to Agnes. I have had contact with Margaret from WA who is also descended from Agnes. Agnes daughter Janet was her GG Grandmother.
I am a member of Ancestry & still finding connections with families. My GG Grandmother was Rebecca Shortridge who married William Gasson.
Look forward to hearing from you again.
Kind Regards
