Find relatives in NSW Australia

Article by Holton_Davina

Hello, my grandfather Lionel Charles Holton sadly died aged 93yrs in 2004. There were two addresses he had written : Mr Alfred Holton, 8 Balaclaven Rd, Eastwood NSW, Australia and Mr Mrs E Holton, 5490 RMB, Ridgway, via Gisfold, NSW. Both addresses written in Grandads script and so could be slightly wrong when copied by me !
If anyone thinks they may be related or know of these people, it would be lovely to hear from you Cheers Davina

I don't know them but I checked the electoral Rolls and I have Alfred Edward and Lottie Winifred living at 8 Balaclava Road, Eastwood in 1943.
Before that in the 1933 and 1937 Electoral Rolls Alfred and Lottie were on the Gosford Roll with some of the people listed below.
They were living at Tumbi Umbi he described himself as an Orchardist.

As for Ridgeway that is part of Gosford and you have there a Post Office Box.
I found several Holtons in the area. I have listed all the ones on the 1949 Electoral Roll.
Holton Alfred William Berkeley Vale, Farmer
Holton Edith Mary, Tumbi Umbi. Home duties
Holton Frances Female, Berkeley Vale, home duties
Holton George Edward Berkeley Vale, Farmer
Holton George Henry Tumbi Umbi, Orchardist
Holton Henry John Tumbi Umbi, Orchardist
Holton Joyce Yvonne Tumbi Umbi, Home duties
Holton Patricia Mary Berkeley Vale, Home Duties
Holton Robert Charles Berkeley Vale, Farmer
Holton Sylvia May Berkeley Vale, Home Duties
Holton William Henry Tumbi Umbi, Orchardist

Alfred Edward and Lottie were still living at 8 Balaclava Road, Eastwood in 1963.
Lottie Winifred died in 1975 and Alfred Edward, who's parents were Henry John and Elizabeth Holton died in 1977

Lottie's maiden name was Ruff, she and Alfred Edward were married in Gosford in 1921.
I did find a daughter born in Tumbi Umbi in 1922, Irene Edith Holton she married Russell Oswald William Hughson in 1947 at Ryde.

Hi, I am a granddaugher of Alf and Lottie and the youngest daughter of Irene. Irene and Russ had twins, Diann and Denise. Alf and Lottie had Ray, Marj, Don and Norma as well. Irene, Ray & Marj have since deceased.
All the address are correct. It just happens that I am going to The Entrance on the weekend and going to go and search out the Ridgeway. Hope this helps.

I have recently been searching for ANZAC postcards online as part of my family history research and I have found postcards relating to Alfred Edward Holton who served Service No. 101 in the 33rd Battalion and who was taken prisoner of war in WW1. The postcards listed were part of his own collection of family album postcards which are being listed on an online auction website currently. If you would like further information please do not hesitate to contact me.
