Looking for the parents of Richard Marr Scott

Query by BobEvans

Dear Friends,
I am looking for details of parents for Richard Marr Scott, seem he married Lucy Heeps in South Australia. He died 1898 in Strathalbyn, South Australia, his wife died in South Australia.
My wifes Grandmother, Ivy Pickett was the daughter of Thomas Pickett and Louisa Mary Lehmann. Louisa Mary Lehmann was the daughter of Wilhelm Lehmann and Mary Lousia Scott (Marie Louise Scott) and Mary Louisa Scott was the daughter of Richard Marr Scott and Lucy Heeps.
Richard Scott is believed to be the son of Winfield Scott. In Richards death notice it says he was ?son of the late Gen Winfield Scott of the USA.. American papers please copy?. I would love contact with anyone in regards to our family connections.
I have yet to find any person who can make the "connection" to Gen winfield Scott, but I'm encouraged by the many people who have stated that they will keep an eye on the issue, thank you everyone I am sure that this will be sorted out before very long.

Richard SCOTT (aged 23) and Mary HEEPS (aged 17) were married in the Holy Trinity Church in Adelaide, South Australia, on the 04 November 1851.

Just wanted to confirm the marriage for you. Sorry to say the father's names were not recorded in this time period.

Hi Bob

I would look at this Re: General Winfield Scott's Descendants

Hi Tonkin,
Thanks for the confirmation, I had a year but not a specific date. My son who lives in Adelaide informs me that Richard & Lucy lived in Strathalbyn, SA, and that he was a merchant.
I keep seeing people who are following the Richard Marr Scott line stating that he is the son of Gen Winfield Scott, but I am yet to have this verified. Other than a death notice there does not appear to be any other evidence. I'm not convinced this is enough to put into my tree.

Hi ALV,
I'll certainly check out the website you speak of, hopefully I can gather the information that will link Richard to winfield. Thank you for the information.

Regards, Bob
