Mcdonnel/Mcdonald/MacDonald's in Oxford County, Ontario, Canada - early 1800's

Journal by Macdonab

My father was born on lot 7 con 9 Oxford county in 1913. I've traced his family back to my gg-grandfather Donald Mcdonell who married Sarah Cameron in 1823. Have filled in most, but not all, the history from that point.

The wedding was the first in the county and according to "The Thomas Brush Brown Autobiography" was at Mr. O'Brien, the grooms step-father's house.

That is my brick wall. I can not find anything about Donald's parents or any siblings. Have some leads, but can not tie anything together.

Other families on this tree include;

Shorter - My dad's mother - England
Cameron - Donald married Sarah Cameron
Parks - Sarah's mother

In addition to the spouse of Mcdonell kids.

Would be more than glad to share whatever research I have.

J.

Yes, we corresponded previously. Since then I've extended my research of the MacDonald and Cameron families. See's Sarah's brother had a daughter who also married in the MacDoanld's family.

Also have traced Sarah and Donald's land ownerships. As you noted she was UEL (via her father) and received 200 acres. They sold that and purchased lot 7, con 9 in East Nissouri which was next to his step-father.
