Looking for Hannah Bird and relatives who was born in Blidworth Notts, in 1876 she was raised by her aunt and uncle in Tupton Derbyshire.
Hannah is my great grandmother. She had my grandad in 1892 so was only around 15. I have hit a brick wall as I can't find her on the 1901 + census records. My dad has said he thinks she was living in Bolsover Chesterfield but I can't find a marriage, or death or anything after she had my grandad

Hi thank you for the reply. Yes this is the Hannah I am looking for. This is as far as I have got. Since the birth of my grandad I have no more leads, I hit a brick wall. Hannah's mum was Mary Bird, formally Knowles but she died when Hannah was around 4 so she was raised by her aunt and uncle.

Hi there yes these are the family members i have also found but Hannah is a mystery. I do know Hannah's brother John also came to live in Bolsover and via a contact of Johns i found out he went to the USA following one of his children and their family. It could be Hannah followed him. Its another lead i am following. Thank you for the help.
Hi, John Bird born 1868 in Blidworth is my great grandfather. He died in 1945 in Bolsover and is buried in Bolsover with his wife Hannah (Chapman) who died in 1949. They had 9 children in Bolsover. They married in Blidworth in 1890. John's dad, George born 1834 in Gedling All Hallows (near Blidworth) had 4 children Annie born 1867, John born 1868, Sarah Elizabeth born 1872 and finally Hannah born 1876. Annie married John Shelton and had 4 children in Blidworth, Sarah was classed imbecile from birth and died in Mansfield Union Workhouse in 1916. Hannah last known of by us in 1891 as you know with her uncle in Tupton. We have photographed John and Hannah's grave and have all census sheets saved if you need anything. Can you let us know the link from you to Hannah. Very intriguing. mark-hibbert2@virginmedia.com. Yours Mark
Hi Mark,
Great to hear from you. Hannah was my great grandmother. I am still looking into Hannah. I have a lead she died in Leeds in 1895. I have the death certificate but it was not a family member who registered her death it was the superintendent of the hospital. She was 19. Hannah had my grandfather John Bird in 1892.
Willian T Knowles and Hannah (Hill) have a John born 1892 living with them on the 1901 and 1911 census sheets. Is this your grandfather son of Hannah 1876(Bird).
Hi Mark,
Yes this is my grandfather. This is Hannah's son. He was later known in the village as John/Jack Knowles. It wasn't until he needed his birth certificate to either start work or get married. That's when he found out who was his mother.
Do you have a copy of the birth of John or the death of Hannah. Its very interesting. Do you know that William adopted Ernest Wright born 1900 Sheffield too. I will do more research on them....
Hi Mark,
Yes I do have Johns birth, marriage and death certificates. Yes I knew Ernest was adopted by William and Hannah{Hill}. I have sent for a death certificate for a Hannah Bird. It is the right age but no known connection with Leeds. I am waiting for the coroner at leeds to get back in touch to see if they have a record of her date of birth. If it is my Hannah she was only 19 when she died. WHy she ended upin leeds is beyond me.
How are you connected to the Bird family? I have been told that John Bird 1868 had died in America in 1945.
Hi Debs, i am the grandson of Gladys Ada Bird born 1907 in Bolsover. Her father (John born 1868) was Hannah's older brother. I have a photo of the grave which i could email to you if you like. You can send me an email to mark-hibbert2@virginmedia.com. Are you local to Bolsover? I have a newspaper clipping of John and Hannah's 50th wedding anniversary which is very informative as it mentions Blidworth.
