lookin for connections and decendants of william Nicholas Harris who married Mary Emma Shaw in 1873

Journal by peterkelly

They had a son named Samuel born in 1891 in carlton victoria. he was adopted to David and Sophie kelly and grew up in the depession in melbourne.
Samuel or Samuel Harris became Samuel Harris Kelly and married Maude Lennon and lived in Surrey Hills with and extended family of children.
Samuel died at the South Melbourne Football grounds in 1962 watching his beloved Team the "Bloods" play in 1962. Son Ken comforted him with other family waiting for the St John Ambulance to arrive but alas too late.

Little is known about Samuels descendants or in fact his birth family lines but probably came from unskilled background or mining work we think.

I am a derect descendant of Samuel , he was my grandfather and I knew him as a great cricket teacher in the back yard as a child. I have a trophy from his playing days at Balwyn in the form of a silver teapot which is engraved to him.

My father Ken is also researching madly and has recorded along with other family various events back to the late 1890's so far.

Become a RootsChatter and see what others can find for you.

Register as a new user, then goto their Emigrants to Australia board. Much information can still be found. Many rootschatters have Victorian bdms on cd-rom and can do lookups for you.
