1st of my MASTERS Family to arrive in the Colony.

My MASTERS family originated in parishes around the Pilton area of Somerset, UK. In September 1840 they boarded the ship "ALFRED" at Plymouth in September of 1840 and set sail on the 7th September bound for Australia arriving on the 19th January 1841 after a 3 week stop-over for supplies at Capetown.

James' wife, Maria, gave birth not long before arriving in Sydney. Sadly both Maria and the new baby boy died which meant that mother and son had to be buried at sea. An Autopsy showed that it wasn't the birth that caused her to die, the official cause was inflammation of the Bowels.

The family first settled at South Creek or what is now known as St Mary's in the Penrith, NSW. area which was lumped under the name of the Hawkesbury District in those early years. In later years they lived in the Parramatta area, where James worked as a Trader. What he traded in I have no idea.
Each of the children eventually married and raised families of their own. The Children & their spouses are;

Elizabeth 1830-1904; married convict Samuel PROCTOR 1809- 1885.

WILLIAM 1832-1909 married Sarah BEECROFT 1837-1865, married [2] Fanny THOMPSON nee ANDREWS b 1836-1919

James Stephen 1839-1924 married Sarah Ann BRIDGE 1843-1920

Aaron 1838-1895 married Elizabeth MIZEN 1846-1913

Francis 1839-1906 married Mary BEECROFT 1841-1882, married [2] Mary CAMERON b ?-?

Anyone have Photo's

I am shooting a long shot here.
If anybody has a photo of any person belonging to any of my family names or
the places where they lived
I would like to arrange for a copy to be sent to me.
If a cost is involved then I will cover any expenses.

In Perthshire, Scotland the CRICHTON family lived in Alyth,
My 3x great grandparents were William & Margery (called May) and both
are buried in the Local Cemetery. William was a well known farmer and from what I have learned
a very well educated man who did good work through his local church.

Most of their children emigrated to Australia. John to Williamstown, Victoria
Sons William & James settled in the Tumut/Adelong district of NSW.
Sister Jane lived in Tumut then married Stephen Fisher & settled out around the Bourke area of NSW.
Sister Jean married John HENDERSON in Sydney NSW and they had 6 children, 4 girls & 2 boys.

Sister Isabel married Charles WANLESS before coming out and arrived in Victoria 1852, but is rumoured to have died either on the voyage or shortly after arrival.
Her 3 surviving children from her 1st marriage were named OGILVY, Margery, Cecilia, John,

Sister Janet married Robert STEWART in Scotland before sailing out with their family and supposedly
settled in Queensland. Her family consisted of 6 girls & 4 Boys, their names are; MARGERY, ROBERT, SUSAN, WILLIAM, JOHN, JEAN, DANIEL, JANET, MARGARET & HELEN.

Another family from Perthshire Scotland are the MOON family of Longforgan, Henry married Janet KIDD CRICHTON
in Abdie, Fife in 1834 and they arrived out here in Jan 1840 with their 3 children. The youngest, a boy,
George Aitken MOON died 3 months after arriving,he was 6 months old. My William CRICHTON b 1833 married their eldest child Margaret MOON. Her mother & william her son in law were cousins. William & Margaret lived in Tumut,NSW.

Can you see them?

After reading that Copyright can foil your effort I did some looking into this matter.
From what I was told; Copyright is a matter for each cemetery, if you must just ask the local council.

If you just happen to live near or be going to Pilton, Somerset in the UK, and your looking to fill in some time, you could always tour St John the Baptist church and/or the graveyard there.

Not only would the headstones tell some great stories, but you might come across the headstones of my
MASTERS family there. If you do, could I ask you to take some photo's for me, and send them by email to me in Australia please. Circumstances dictate that I will never make it there, as much as I would like to.
If anyone can oblige me with my request I would be greatly appreciative. Thank you for reading my post.

Is there any MASTERS about?

Some of My MASTERS family were either born, married or buried at St Aldheim's Church, in Doulting.
The Churchyard may also contain some of them if you spot them any chance a scanned photo being sent on to me by email?
The same applies for the Church Graveyard at St Peters, North Wootton,
I would be most grateful for any help. Thank you for reading my post.

People of Pilton and parishes surrounding this area

My family back to the mid 1700's had most of life's major events recorded at St John the Baptist Church of England in Pilton, Somerset,UK.
Names that I'm interested in are MASTERS + PORCH + BOULTON + ORLEDGE + PITNEY + HACKETT + HINTON + WEEKS.
Parishes that connect at different times are PILTON + NORTH WOOTTON + DOULTING + FROME + GLASTONBURY and possibly WEST/EAST PENNARD.

If you have any information on anyone with one of these surnames I would love to hear from you.
Even if it was something you read in a cemetery around these area.
