My father David Alexander Jackson was born at Jacksons New Zealand Christchurch Road. My name is Michael Jackson Born in 1967 August 7, Hokitika New Zealand .
I tiitled this drifting because my father David is drifting away from reality, he has been in bad health and now some of the stories he tells of the old days at Jacksons and what went on seems to be not quite what it really was.
I have the bagpipes that have been passed down through the family Since the battle of Colodon.
These pipes have been in and out of New Zealand’s museums for as long as I can remember. I did meet a movie /documentary maker named is Howard at the Ducks deluxe in Christchurch in the 80s who told me of a documentary on the Irish pipes ,He then carried on to tell me about some mysterious Scottish pipes that have been around since 1746 or earlier and were brought to New Zealand from Scotland by the Jacksons in the 1850s , when I informed him that the person he was speaking to, being myself, had the pipes he was speaking of at home in Hokitika under my bed he was ecstatic and immediately took me to his friends house who was a pipe major in New Zealand, knocking on his window calling out his name . Haggis, I found the pipes , i’ve got Michael Jackson with me and he has the pipes at home in Hokitika. Howard had apparently kept a bottle of Glenfiddich in the car for the moment that he found these pipes so we proceeded with Haggis to enjoy the Bottle and organise a viewing of the pipes. Along the way we also haD big swords from Scotland. and dirks and all sorts of stuff that I fear my father David may have Loaned to museums where I would no longer know where they were. We are about to enter 2020,
I will investigate and find out where these family relics may be.
