For any Loveday's interested in their history I am originally Patricia Loveday born in Christchurch Nz in 1931 my grandfather William came out here on ship "schiaelleon" in 1874 with 6 other children and parents James and Lydia as assisted immigrants and were original settlers in Woodville, apparently there is a street named after them. They went on to have another 8 children in NZ.
Grandad Bill as we called him was an accomplished rifleman together with his brother George and team represented New Zealand at Bisley in England. According to "Papers Past" they went in 1902 and then in 1919 he
won the coveted King's Prize and was presented to Prince Albert and chaired around the camp. My brother William now deceased inherited his ability and it has now passed on to my son Gregory.
William's brother George had 9 children, amongst them was Alan Loveday who was a famous violinist, I have a CD of him performing in Vivaldi "The four seasons" at the Academy of St Martin in the Fields" conducted by Neville Marriner in 1969. I am hoping to go to Woodville to see if I can find any more history God willing.I have a great photo of the Bisley Team in 1902 but am not sure how to post it. Pattie
