Daniel?s father Daniel Parson?s Baker married his mother Sina Phillips on the 6th December 1791 in Edgbaston United Kingdom. Their children were Ann, Mary [6 April 1801 Christened] Sarah [28 Oct 1802 Christened] The 4th child was DANIEL PARSONS BAKER [20 Dec 1804 DoB] Caleb [17 Nov. 1806 Christened] Sina,[14 Oct 1808 DoB] Richard Parsons Baker [14 Jan 1811 DoB] All the children were christened in St. Martin?s in the Bullring Birmingham.

The Baker family or just Daniel as an apprentice may have moved to Sedgley by 1819. At the age of approx 10 ? 12 years old he was apprenticed as a brass founders moulder. My story starts with a young lad just 14 who along with 3 other boys stole a watch and was forced to leave his family and homeland England in the United Kingdom ? in disgrace as a convict. This young lad was shipped to Australia so far from home and lived the harsh life as a convict. When granted his Freedom he chose to make New Zealand his home and with his wife Noa ? [the first Samoan to become a New Zealand citizen] raised their children as New Zealanders [five of the six were born on the isolated Raoul Island]. They were pioneers and have been recorded in the history books of our land. His children went on to play an important role in the history of New Zealand.
