RICHARDS family

I've got a bit of a chat with my G/Dad who is Walter Sidney (aka Sidney) RICHARDS' son but he can't remember much as apparently the father of W.Sidney took his life when W.Sidney was about 2 and back then that sort of thing wasn't really discussed???? Also, probably, with coming over to a new country when he was so little he (W.Sidney) may not have remembered too much to be able to tell/talk to about to his own kids. G/Dad remembers something about the mother (Lena) coming out with W.Sidney and another daughter but wasn't sure which one. He thought there were about 12 (?) kids in the family.
Every little bit helps and I hope I might get a chance sometime to go through some old family photos with G/Dad or an uncle (G/Dad's brother) while they're still around and in sane frame of mind.... :o)

FURTHER QUESTIONS ON THE FORE-FATHERS OF WALTER SIDNEY RICHARDS, Born 1900 Isle of Wight, ENGLAND

Thanks very much for that information.
On Walter Sidney RICHARDS' (my Great-Grandfather) birth certificate it listed his father, Alfred George, as a gardener; from what I can piece together, but are unsure, it seems that at some stage an Alfred G RICHARDS worked as a gardener at a cottage in Nitton. See link below, down the page about halfway.
http://www.rockcottageniton.co.uk/information/history-2/

Going from this information the Alfred father here had a son Walter (16 - carriage driver) which makes me wonder whether this was Walter Sidney RICHARDS and the family had moved there after living in Isle of Wight or whether this Walter is an uncle to the Walter Sidney (that is my Great-Grandfather), and the father Alfred is in fact Walter Sidney's Grandfather (my Great-Great-Great-Grandfather?

The Walter Sidney RICHARDS, that is my Great-Grandfather birth certificate states the following information:
Registration District: Isle of Wight; 1900 BIRTH in the Sub-district of Godshill in the ______?____ of Isle of Wight.
When and where born: 21st April 1900, "Sunnyside" Bonchurch R.D.
Name: Walter Sidney
Sex: Boy
Name, Surname of Father: Alfred George Richards
Name, Surname and maiden surname of Mother: Lena Richards formerly Croad
Occupation of Father: Gardener (Domestic)
Signature, description and residence of informant: A. G. Richards, Father, "Sunnyside" Bonchurch
When Registered:30th May 1900
Signature of registrar: Thomas ? Registrar

I will put this into my journal comments as well and maybe this information will prompt others to come forward with their knowledge.

Looking for family of Alfred George RICHARDS, Isle of Wight, ENGLAND

I'm trying to track names/dates/details etc of my Great-Grandfathers family. He is Walter Sidney RICHARDS, son of Alfred George RICHARDS and Lena Maria CROAD/CRODE. Her parents were Absolum (or Absolom or Abraham) CROAD and Eliza/Elisabeth DOWLE. Absolum CROAD's mother was a HARBIN
I've got scattered details about the CROAD side but can't seem to find anything about and/or previous relating to Alfred George RICHARDS.
Walter Sidney RICHARDS was born 1900 at "Sunnyside", Bonchurch, Isle of Wight, ENGLAND. I have a copy of his birth certificate providing this.
Lena RICHARDS brought Walter Sidney out to NZ working as a nanny to John CHEYNE, who she later went on to marry. I would love to know if she brought out any other children with her and/or what happened to them. From asking my Grandfather he is sure there were numerous children in the family but not sure of names or anything.
What happened to Alfred George RICHARDS? Where is he buried? And who are his siblinigs and parents etc.

Key Surnames include: RICHARDS, CHEYNE, CROAD, CRODE, HARBIIN, DOWLE.
