Anders of the Carolinas and Virginia

I am a descendant of John Anders b. 1797 in Virginia. His son David A. Anders (by his 1st of 3 wives) fathered Phillip Mitchell Anders. Phillip's son Captain "Capp" Anders had a son, Alvin Sherman Anders who married Dassie Lee Smith. Alvin and Dassie had eleven children, one of which is my mother.

Since most families were having a large number of kids, I know that I must have hundreds of cousins out there. I hope a few will run across this post and contact me through my website at http://www.pruden.net

Pruden Family Tree

I am attempting to research my own Pruden Family Tree. I started this project as a kid of about 12-13 years of age and have now just recently resumed after 25 years. I am fortunate to still have my notes from discussions with my grandparents, so I'm not starting from scratch. Now, with the aid of the Internet, I hope to access more records and other genealogical researchers than I ever imagined. You can view my current status anytime on my personal web page at http://www.Pruden.net

I hope that you will write and share your own research as well as any tips that you might think helpful. familytree@pruden.net

Pruden's from Suffolk, Nansemond County, Virginia

My father, Mills Edward Pruden III, and his father, Mills Edward Pruden Jr, were both born in Nansemond County, Virginia. My grandfather moved down to northeastern North Carolina and opened up his own business. Pruden's Welding Service in Roxobel, Bertie County, North Carolina is still open today; currently operated by my uncle Sammy Pruden.

I am hoping to gather more information on the family's activities and relatives in the Nansemond County area. I believe there are some Pruden's still living in that area and they are most likely my relatives.
