Houston McBay of Lincoln County, Tennessee

Houston McBay, b. abt 1782 in SC. "Early East Tennessee Marriages, 1783-1868", Vol. 1 Grooms, page 237: On October 2, 1809, Hugh McBay married Peggy Phann, by Phillip Phann, sig. Hugh Houston McBay. (Houston was born in 1782. He would have been 27 years of age at the time of the marriage.); From the military Records of the Tennessee Soldiers from the War of 1812:
McBay, Hugh- was drafted into the military and served at the rank of Corporal in the War of 1812 under Colonel Ewen Allison and Captain Thomas Wilson. (Houston was 30 years of age at this time)
We know from court records that Houston purchased 50 acres of land in Lincoln County, Tennessee, on August 31, 1839, from Charles Lynch.
We also know from his will dated August 5, 1856, that his wife was named Margaret and that Elizabeth Snow was his daughter. The Will was proven in court on October 5, 1856 in Lincoln County.
In the 1850 Lincoln County, Tennessee Census shows Houston McBay and wife as shown below:

Phillip age 37, is the son of Houston and Margaret, divorced and living at home w/ parents again
Elizabeth Snow, age 30, is his daughter, she is listed in his 1856 will as his daughter. She and her 4 children, Sarah A., Phillip M., Wiley, Margaret E., are living with Houston and Margaret. It is not known the given name of her SNOW husband. However, given the age of the last Snow child was 7 years old he would have had to died or left Elizabeth sometime between 1843 and 1850 where she is found living w/ parents in 1850 census.
After the death of Houston, we find Margaret in Census Reports up to 1880, see below:

Jacob Moyer, the immigrant

The spelling of Moyers varied from Meyer, Myers, whatever, depending on the spelling given it by whoever was recording the information.
Jacob Meyer age 24 from Berg, Switzerland (b ca 1715) arrived 7 Feb 1739 on Ship Jamaica Galley (per the Immigrant per Baughman History) Dorothea Moyers, daughter of Jacob Moyers, married John Baughman. These families arrived on the same ship.
Jacob, the immigrant has at least one child, of coarse named none other than, Jacob Moyer. This Jacob was born abt. 1753 and died abt. 1795 in Botetcourt County, Virginia. He first married Barbara Miller who supposibly was the daughter of Jacob Miller. Second he marred Saloma/Sarah Miller, also a daughter of Jacob Miller. He married Barbara abt 1772 and had some children, not sure who or how many but do know that my great great great great grandfather, Mathias was b. in 1779 so he would have been the son of Barbara, she must have died and then Jacob married Saloma(Sarah) on November 6, 1781 in Strasburg Lutheran Chruch, Strasburg, Shenandoah county,Virgina. Therewere children to this marriage as well. The children from both marriages were John abt 1773, Mathias abt 1779, Susanna abt 1781, Peter abt 1783, Sarah abt 1785 and Dorothea (Dolly) December 25, 1787.
Jacob's health failing appointed Peter Deisher as guardian of his underage children and after his death there is a marriage of Sarah Moyer to Peter Deisher on January 28, 1797.
Later when Doretha Moyer, daughter of Jacob and Sarah wanted to marry John Baughman one Daniel Disher signed an oath at the county clerk's office of Botetcourt County, Virginia stating that Doretha Moyer was over the age of 21. Seems that this Daniel Disher was the son of Peter Disher making him either the brother or half brother to Doretha.
My gggggrandfather, Mathias b. abt 1779 Va. and died April 1812 in Jefferson County, Tennessee married on May 23, 1797 Mary Polly Collins, daughter of John and Catherine Critcher Collins. Polly was born on September 8, 1779 and died January 26, 1850. Mathias was about 33 years old at the time of his death. When he died his estate was in a mess.
For more notes on Mathias Moyers read info in genealogy.com's Descendants of John Collins, generation No. 9
Sources show that the Bible of Mathias Moyers shows his children: one child, Wyley was my great great great grandfather, Wyley's name is spelled Wagley but think that was a mis-spelling of his real name that was pronounced Wyley.
After Mathias died Polly remarried Andrew Powell Gass, a man much younger than herself. Andrew was born in 1792. The two had 5 children plus Andrew became the father of some of Mathias' youngest children that he left behind including my ggggrandfather. There were 7 children from the marriage of Mathias and Polly.
Wyley married Sarah Jane Jones in Rhea County, Tennessee in 1832. I don't know who her parents were.
