I have been trying to piece together my family on my father's, in particular the Roddens of Drumoghil, Donegal, Ireland. Other people are putting together other strands. The interesting part is the diversion or side track. My great uncle Daniel was last heard of in 1919 in Glasgow. My father had just about been born, so he had only heard a few things about him. He believed that he had gone to Australia after the first World War, he had introduced an Australian mate of his to my grandmother's sister, and he was in Glasgow for the wedding. From conservations it had always been assumed he had been in the British army, then I thought how could he get to be mates with an Australian. It was that thought that led to a whole new story. I found his name in the National Archives in Canberra Australia and I began to unravel some of his and other Rodden lives.
