ROWLES ~ of Wotton under Edge. Gloucestershire.

Hi, I'm looking for any information about the marriage of my Gr.Gr. [Paternal] Grandparents ~ William Thomas and Hannah Witchell Rowles of Wotton under Edge. William was born in 1792, Hannah, christened Anna Witchell Rowles on 8th November 1807, but born on 29th April 1798. Their first child Eliza was born in 1820, however, someone in W.u.E kindly did some research for me there and was unable to find any entry in the registers there for their marriage, she also checked Gloucestershire registers but was unable to search the south Gl'sh' and north Bristol registers. Not sure where to try next, so if anyone has come across them in their own research would you be kind enough to let me know please.
William was a Wheelwright/carpenter, his parents were Joseph & Sarah Thomas [nee Lacey]. Hannah's parents were Richard & Elizabeth Rowles [nee Way]. William & Hannah lived in Wotton under Edge all their lives. Horfield and Clifton areas of Bristol seems to play a roll in the family as well. Thanks.

UPDATE: 10th January 2016. I have, since originally posting this journal, found some of the information I asked for here, i.e the wedding date and place, William's D.o.B & death , their children's info. etc, if you're interested in this family I can share it with you. My e.mail address is:- e.73.rob@hotmail.co.uk

Richard Beer. ~Bristol.England-Canada- Michigan, U.S.

My Great Uncle Richard Beer, born in Bristol, England on 15th April 1879, a twin, whose brother Nicholas George died at 8 months old. The youngest son of John and Sarah Jane Beer [Evans]. Brother to Clara Ann Beer, [also on this web-site], A carpenter by trade, he emigrated to Canada [Montreal] between 1901 and 1908. He married Elizabeth Annie Hunt on 16th June 1908 in Montreal. He and his family are in the 1930's and 1940's U.S Census at Harrison Township, Michigan. At 51 he is a school janitor.
What happens to them after 1940, I don't know, so if anyone has him in their Tree and can complete the history I would love to hear from you.

William Thomas of Wotton under Edge. Gloucestershire. England

My 2x Great Grandfather WILLIAM THOMAS was born in Wotton under Edge,
Gloucestershire, England in 1792 or thereabouts. He was a Wheelwright by trade, he married HANNAH[Anna Witchel] ROWLES [born 1798 and baptised in 1806 at W-u-E] in Gloucestershire.
William's parents were JOSEPH THOMAS and SARAH LACEY who married on 25th November 1788, again at Wotton.
William and Hannah had 9 children [that I have so far found]-ELIZA born 1820, MELICENT 1822,MARY 1823, LLEWELLIN about 1826- ALFRED about 1828- FREDERIC 1831- [another] ELIZA 1836- MILLICENT 1839.
LLEWELLIN moved to Bristol and set up a Building/decorating/glaizer company there between the 1850's and the 1880's, when he died his sons WILLIAM KINGDON THOMAS and CHARLES THOMAS took over.
ALFRED married HARRIET JAMES and moved his family to London where he also set up business as a builder etc.
I think ELIZA also moved to Bristol, married a man called CHARLES PHILLIPS and they ran a Green Grocers in the Stokes Croft area for many years.
MILLICENT never married but made her way up to London doing various domestic servant jobs on her way, ending up as Housekeeper to a Jacob Monteflorie in Grovenor? Square London.
FREDERIC was my Great Grandfather, he remained in Wotton all his life, he married MARY JENKINS born in North Nibley, Gloucestershire.

If any of these name/dates come up in your family history I would be glad to hear from you.

John Evans(Evins) of Northam, and Cornwall.Uk.

I'm looking for any early information concerning my G.G Grandfather John Evans, he was born between 1817 to 1820 at Northam Devon. It's thought he was born 'out of wedlock!' but on his marriage certificate of 2nd June 1842 to Jane Cann Chubb at Sutcombe Devon, his father is named as Richard Evins a labourer. John's trade was always as Blacksmith mostly in the Sutcombe, Welcombe areas of Devon and Kilkhampton, Cornwall area. He died at Kilkhampton in 1884. I have been able to find out about him after his marriage through censuses etc., but if he shows up in your research, I should be glad to hear from you.

Beer, Clara Ann. 1866.

Clara Ann Beer was my Great Aunt, born in Bristol,England on 21st May 1866. I have her in the England census of 1881 aged 14, a housemaid. Family story has it that she became interested in the Mormon sect and may have gone to Amercia. I cannot find her in any other UK censuses and of course all the relatives who might have known what happened have all passed on now. So, if anyone does come across her, I'd be glad to hear from you. Her mother and father were John and Sarah Jane Beer (Evans) who came from Hartland / Sutcombe areas of Devon and moved to Bristol about 1864/5. John was a carpenter, Sarah's father, John Evans, was a blacksmith in the Devon and Cornwall area. *New information gained recently shows that she left her home in Bedminster, Bristol on 6th August 1888 on the pretext of going to Bath in Somerset, [reason unknown]and she was not seen or heard of again from that time. Her father John Beer and her uncle, Richard Beer did, for at least 5 years after her dissapearance, advertise for information about the whereabouts of Clara in Reynold's Newspaper [London],also Amercia and Australia editions. So now I'm hoping she didn't end up dead in a ditch somewhere but is sitting in someone else's family tree. If she is, please let me know so I can finally close the page on Clara Ann Beer. Thank's.
