This 79 year old tree is trying to find her roots! Ira J. Williams was born in Vinegar Bend Alabama on Sept 23 1870, later moved to Clarke Co Ms where he was married twice, firt time to Emma Davis in 1893.She died in 1905 in Clarke Co when her long dress caught fire while she was boiling water in her big black iron washpot. My father was six years old at the time. there were five or six children born to that union. In 1906 he married Mary Emily Schrimpshire, and they had five children, one of which died at an early age..I have not been able to find Ira J's parents or where they came from. Found him listed in last Dawes Roll in Quitman Co, Ms which seems to confirm story handed down that he was part Indian. I am trying to put together a history for my children and their children. Family lore has it that my Great Grandmother Williams used to say she "Came from
Virginnie" and that Wales was their country of origin. I don't know her maiden name.
