YATES
I am researching the YATES family, who seem to have been watermen on the the canal and travelled between Warrington and Manchester. Richard Yates was born in Warrington in 1840 to Joseph Yates and Ellen Rowbottom. The family seem to have used Manchester Cathedral for marriages and baptisms and settled in Manchester in the Liverpool Road area.
MARY FITZPATRICK
Mary Fitzpatrick was born in County Wexford ,Ireland c.1840.
She married RICHARD YATES( waterman) in Manchester Cathedral in 1863. The marriage certificate shows her father to be WILLIAM PATRICK and she is shown as MARY PATRICK, but subsequent birth certificates for her children give her name as MARY FITZPATRICK.Her children were JOSEPH, MARY ELLEN, WILLIAM, MARGARET, THOMAS, and MARIELLA. I have searched the censuses for her prior to her marriage without much proof or success and I do not know when she left Ireland. She was Roman Catholic but I have not found the children's baptisms.
JOHN NEWILL 1770's -1841
I am searching for the birthplace and parents of John Newill. He married Elizabeth Hekin by licence and a marriage bond in 1798 in Welshpool, where he lived and worked. His occupation was a tailor - so presumably he had an apprenticeship. His 1841 census return says he was not born in the county of Montgomeryshire.
EAKIN, IKIN, HEKIN in Shropshire. England
I am researching the ancestors of Joseph Eakin (sometimes Ikin,Ekin ,or Hekin) He was born in 1753 in Worthen, Shropshire to John Eakin and Ann Cartwright. He married Jane Owen in the 1770's and had at least one daughter Elizabeth. Does anyone have him in their family tree ?
Looking for parents of William BEATTIE born Dumfries 1796/8
William Beattie was born in Dumfries/hire between 1796-8 according to his census records. He married Elizabeth Newill by licence in Meols Brace, Shropshire in 1824 and was at that time a tea dealer.
They settled in Welshpool, Montgomeryshire. Records show he was a seed dealer and by 1841 a farmer. He is on the electoral register by 1861 and died in 1874. There seem to be links with Liverpool and his son William became a gardener and seed dealer in Knotty Ash from 1851-61. I have researched the Dumfrieshire baptismal records extensively and have narrowed William Beattie Snr's birth down to the son of either William Beattie/ Janet Walker or Andrew Beattie/ Margaret Robertson and I would be interested to link with anyone who has these Scottish ancestors.
