Harmon Davis was born about 1730 in either VA or NC, married Phoebe, served in the American Rev., 1st Lt. 4th SC, Capt. 29 May 1777, was
wounded at Savannah 9 Oct. 1779, taken prison at Charleston SC, 12 May 1780, became Brevet Major 30 Sept. 1783. He was awarded 300 acresand died 22 Apr. 1805 in Newberry Co., SC.
I have proved this for the DAR.
His children were Harmon, Jr, Reason, Rachel, Sarah, Hannah, William, Nancy, Martha, Van, and Thomas.
My question is whether Rezin or Reason Davis, who died about 1811, in Beaufort, SC, was his father. If so, where was he born? We had earlier thought that Capt. Rezin Davis, in the Amer. Rev. in Maryland was his father, but he is a different Rezin Davis. Has anyone in the family been able to find out when & where Harmon'sancestors immigrated to the U.S?
We think that one of Harmon's brother was Van, b. abt. 1732 in NC but don't have proof and can't find anyone who knows about the father.
I am descended from Harmon's son, Reason, born 1755-1760 in Newberry Co.,SC, died 1831,, and his wife Eleanor Morgan, b. 1767 and d. 1814.
Their son was Joshua Davis b. 1793 and d. 1845 in Newberry Co., SC and his wife was Elizabeth Pitts Smith, b. abt. 1790 and d. after 1845.
Their daughter was Elizabeth R. Davis b. 8 Nov. 1824 and d. 24 Dec.1862, and her husband was John Wilson McKittrick, b. 27 May 1823 and d. 31 Dec. 1847 in Newberry, SC.
Thir son was John Taylor McKittrick, b. 23 Dec. 1847 and d. 23 Aug. 1927, and his wife was Lura R. Watson, b. 17 Oct. 1853, d. 17 June 1933, married 1869.
Their daughter was Janie Belle McKittrick, b. 1 April 1882 and d. 27 Dec. 1973, and her husband was Frederic William McKittrick, b. 28 April 1878 and d.16 Jan. 1929, married 5 Jan 1903.
Their daughter was Gussie Lucille Brehmer, b. 19 Nov. 1809, d. 16 Nov. 2006, and her husband was James Hubert Todd, b. 5 Nov. 1808, d. 9 May 1974.
