It wasn't until my grandfather passed away that we found out that my grandfathers first name wasn't John. It was Harold. No wonder he decided to go by his middle name!! My fathers name is John as we assumed my grandfathers was, so of course being the first son I was to carry on the family tradition of having the first name John. I in turn named my first son John as well. When my grandfather died last Feb. we found his birth certificate and it read Harold John Anderson, which came as a big surprise to all of us. A tradition that we thought we were preserving was actually started by my father who thought that his fathers name was John. Needless to say this revelaton will aide considerably in the research of my family tree now that I know the correct names to look for.
