McNairs' of Wrens, Jefferson Co., GA.

My father, John McNair, son of James Sidney and Mary Alice Parrish, grew up in Wrens, Ga. on a farm. He was seven years old when his father died. His brother Lee, then became head of household. John moved to Gainesville, FL after finishing school. He received a class ring, however, don't believe he graduated. Would love to know if he did or did ot, in fact, graduate. His sister,Juanita had married Edward Ivy and moved to Gainesville, FL. John went to work at a restaurant run by them close to the train track, downtown. Also, brother, Robert Lee, moved to Gainesville. He worked for the Ice Plant. Mary Alice, was brought to live with Juanita and Ed Ivy from
Georgia where she had been institutonalized because of menopausal problems.

There has been a 'mystery' in researching this family. As I have five Eskew sons carrying on this name, I have been anxious to find out about their ancestors. Their father, Charles James Eskew, was orphaned at the age of 7 and sent to the Muncie, Indiana orphanage along with his two sisters, Wilma Maxine and Babara Ann.

These children had the parents named Russell Amos Eskew and Gertrude
Whetsel. They were born in Yorktown, IN. Gertrude died before Russell and he made arrangements for the children to go to the orphanage before he died. Maxine was taken out by relatives, Barbara was adopted, but Charles remained until he joined the Navy when he was 17.

William O. Eskew married Peatl Edna Barker and they had two children:
Edith and Russell.
