KNOTTS to New Zealand

I am looking for information regarding my Great Grandmother?s sister whom I?m told moved to New Zealand from England. I have heard that my GGM kept in touch with letters, but after her death all of the letters were burnt along with many photos. I have no idea which sister or where she lived in New Zealand, so I have little to go on.

My GGMother?s name was Mary Ann Jemima KNOTTS b 1897 in Staines, Middlesex, England; she married Frederick Lindsay GILES in Reading Berkshire, England in 1917 and migrated to Newcastle, NSW, Australia, in 1922 with their two sons.

Possible sisters that I can suggest are;
Martha Matilda KNOTTS b 1888 in Staines, Middlesex, England, married Charles REED in 1915 in Hastings, Sussex, England
Elizabeth Isabel S KNOTTS b 1893 in Staines, Middlesex, England, marriage status is unknown
Ellen Dorcas KNOTTS b 1900 in Reading Berkshire, England, married Frederick POTTER in 1922 in Reading Berkshire, England

Any help would be appreciated

How can I view journals minus an author?

It is taking me longer and longer to trawl through the active journals. And there are some posts that I'm just not interested in reading.

Charles GILES and Lydia PINE married 11th August 1851 Stepney

I?m looking for some help with a brick wall that I?m having trouble with. The known details I have at this stage are as follow;
Charles and Lydia married on 11th August 1851 in the Parish of Stepney in the County of Middlesex. Both are stated to be of ?full? age, unmarried, residing in Stepney. Charles was a Stonemason and his father, Henry, a labourer. Lydia?s father, William, was a butcher.
They travelled to Australia aboard the ?Ellenborough? with their two sons, Charles (2), and William (1)(died on voyage), arriving 31st October 1854.
Charles died 4th January 1886 aged 57 in Newcastle, NSW. His death certificate states that he was married at age 23, his parents are unknown, and that he had been in the colony 31 years.
Children of the marriage were Charles b 31/5/1852, William b 1853, Henry b 13/9/1855, Zipporah b 12/2/1858, Annie b 2/1/1860, William b 20/8/1861, Alfred b 1863, Stephen b 1866, Hannah b 1869, Emily b 1870, Selina b 1872, Amelia b 1874, Charlotte b 1876. I also have found in the 1851 and 1861 censuses, what I believe to be, an illegitimate child belonging to Lydia named Mark Capien Pine.
I?ve been looking in the 1841 & 1851 censuses for a Charles of about the right age with a father Henry without success. The closest I have so far is a family in Middlesex with a Charles of the right age with a father James and mother Rebecca.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

James GAYNER and Elizabeth JONES married 11th February 1857 Bristol

I?m looking for some help with a brick wall that I?m having trouble with. The known details I have at this stage are as follow;
James Gayner and Elizabeth Jones married 11th February 1857 in the Parish of St James in the County/City of Bristol. Both are stated to be unmarried. James was 23 years old, a Labourer and his father, James a glasscutter. Elizabeth was 20 years old, a servant and her father, William, a butcher.
They travelled to Australia aboard the ?Alfred?, arriving 23rd July 1857.
James died 18th July 1920 aged 85 in Hamilton, NSW. His death certificate states that he was married at age 23 to Elizabeth Jones, he was born in Nailsea, England, his parents are James Gayner, glasscutter, and Eliza Parker, and that he had been in the colony 63 years.
Children of the marriage were Female b 1858, Henry b 24/2/1859, Charles b 1862, William b 1864, Emily b 1867, James b 1868, George b 1871, Alice b 1873, Matthew b 1875, Alice b 1878, Agnes b 1880, Frank b 1883. I have some issues around the ?Alice?s? dates.
I?ve been looking in the 1841 & 1851 censuses for a James of about the right age with a father James and mother Eliza without success. The closest I have so far is a family in Nailsea with a James of the right age with a father Edward and mother Eliza. The family name is spelt ?Gainer? in the 1851 census.

NEW 27th August 2009
From information extracted from "Biographical, Genealogical and Descriptive History of the First Congressional District of New Jersey" Volume 1, The Lewis Publishing Company 1900, pp 176 - 182.

This section of the book talks about the GAYNER family in detail, especially John Gayner, the founder of the Gayner Glass Company and his siblings who are located in the USA, England, and Australia.

A summary of some of the details below;

Edward Gayner Married Elizabeth Parker 7th June, 1829
John Snr died aged 68, Elizabeth died aged 74
13 Children
Eliza b. 5th July, 1830, d. 9th September, 1831
John b. 5th December, 1831, married (1) Frances Atkin (6 children), married (2) Elizabeth Wilkins 1st October, 1861 (several children, all but 2 died in infancy)
Edward b. 23rd January, 1833, moved to Norristown, Pennsylvania
James b. 3rd October, 1834, moved to Australia
Eliza b. 15th February, 1836, d. about 1851
Robert b. 4th September, 1837, residing in Bristol
Richard b. 14th February, 1839, residing in Bristol
Frank b. 2nd November, 1840, residing in San Francisco, California
Mary b. 17th April, 1843, living in England
Mathew b. January, 1845, came to America with John but soon returned to England, place unknown.
Ann b. 23rd December, 1847, residing in England
George, a shoemaker living in England
Hannah b. 23rd July, 18??, married and living in England

I believe this all links together fairly well, but, I still have an issue with the father's name on the marriage and death certificates not lining up with the details in the census and the book.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
