I am researching my Family which so far has been centered in
Amelia Courthouse, Virginia. My Grandfather was Robert Allen Barnes, Sr., His father was Robert Royall Barnes whose father was Captain
James Henry Barnes, who was Captain of the 44th Va infantry, Co. H.
He was a Mexican War veteran. I have not been able to find his burial spot. I found a first marriage that we were unaware of prior. He was born in 1816 but I do not know where. His father was William Barnes, His mother was a Mary Vaden. They were married in 1812. However the chancelory records show that James and his sister Anna were given into Guardianship of A James Chappell in Amelia in the 1820's. Which would mean that both William and Mary had passed.

If anyone is researching the Barnes', Allens or Jeters in this County( Amelia) I have plenty of information and will be more than happy to help.
