Foss(e): Stephen Foss b 1602,d 1634, in Paignton, Devonshire, England

Foss(e): Stephen Foss b 1602,d 1634, in Paignton, Devonshire, England, m Mary Jackson,b 1615 in Paignton, Devonshire, England, d 1677 in Ipswich, Essex, Massachusetts, USA. They had one son John, who emmigrated to the US(Rye, Exeter, NH), married to Mary Berry.

Does anyone any information about Stephen's ancestry? I can trace Mary Jackson's ancestry but not Stephen Fosse. All I do know for sure is the Norway connection is incorrect. That connection was another John Foss(t) who lived in Dover, NH

JOHN FOST VS. JOHN FOSS
They are often confused with one another but John Fost, of Dover, married Mary Chadbourne, not John Foss, of Rye, according to the Chadbourne Family Association Website. "Readers should be careful to distinguish between John Foss of Rye and John Fost of Dover, as the listing of their families have been confused and mistakenly printed in some sources. John Fost was a tailor and attorney of Dover, married Mary Chadbourne. By 1686 he succeeded James Goff in running Quampegan mills. John made his will on 17 Dec 1699 and died the next day"

John Foss, married Mary Berry, was an innkeeper and selectman in Rye, NH. Born in Paignton, Devonshire, England in 1633, died in Rye, NH 1710.

Stephen is my 9th maternal GG. Thanks for your help. Richard Boudreau

My gg granparents are: RICHARD TOBIN was born on 12 Jun 1836 in Ballyrue, Burncourt, Cahir.. He died on 06 Aug 1884 in Glengarra, Burncourt, Cahir.. He married ELLEN RYAN on 04 Feb 1864 in Clogheen, Tipperary, Ireland. She was born in 1847 in Ballyrue,

Burncourt,Cahir.. She died in Glengarra, Burncourt, Cahir..
Their daughter, my G Grandmother, Ellen M(Nellie)Tobin Moran emmigrated to Boston circa 1890-1892. While I find her in the 1900 census and beyond, I cannot find her in any passenger list. It is said by a family historian in Ireland that Richard, along with wife and children, left abruptly for the US but then returned at some later point. I find no absolute record of this emmigration or return. However there is a possible Philly connection for the family which I cannot establish either. Another of Richard and Ellen's children, namely Kate Tobin, emmigrated in 1899 and I did find her on a passenger list to Boston. The questions are: 1_Can you find Ellen M(Nellie)Tobin on a passenger list to Boston? 2_Can you find an emmigration of Richard and Ellen Toban and family either to Boston or Philly circa 1875-1884. It is said he may have returned to Ireland because he was ill. He died in 1884.
Thank you........... Dick Boudreau, Clearwater, FL
