According to the 1881 census Harriet was living with John and Jane Stanway (?parents)at The Moor, Biddulph. I have been unable to trace her birth but believe she may actually have been born Harriet Nixon and married into the family (?widowed) although she is stated as being a daughter of John and Jane. Living in the same home were John and Jane's grandchildren, Job aged 10 and Mary A aged 8. I am unable to trace their parents and wonder if Harriet was in fact their mother.

George Edwin Stanway was 12 and living at 68 Samuel Street, Packmoor, Stoke-on-Trent at the time of the 1911 Census. I am trying to find out what happened to him as my father Edwin Stanway, who was born in 1919, does not remember him although he and his cousin George Dennis Rowe must have been named after him.
