Samuel LLOYD, owner of Lake Sunday Station Yorke Peninsula, South Australia

My Ancestors, Robert & Emma SCOTT lived on Lake Sunday Station. Robert was buried on the property when he died in 1883. He did not own the property, but continued working there when Robert Livett LANDER and partners retired to Adelaide (circa 1872). Pages in the Yorke Peninsula Sketch Book, published in South Australia, mention the property was bought by Samuel LLOYD and later passed onto Clarrie LLOYD. Seeking the date of purchase, to establish whether Emma SCOTT and her children was still at Lake Sunday.

ELIZABETH COAD born NEWSOME, born in Ossett, Yorkshire, England. Wife of JAMES COAD born 1850, St Columb,Cornwall, England

Elizabeth's husband James Coad, passed away in 1896, leaving her with children ranging from approx 12 years old down to 2 years old. Her circumstances were very difficult, at a time of sorrow and ill health. She was living at Houghton/Highercombe in the Adelaide Hills. Her eldest son, from a previous relationship, John Henry Newsome, born 1876, was old enough to be of financial assistance. It is believed that Elizabeth and her children came to the attention of the South Australian Children's Board. This information came from one of James' descendents, Rose Ward. It seems to have vanished from my papers, I would like to read it again and the outcome if possible, as I have not been able to find the source.

Edward and Jane Coade (Willoughby)

Edward and Jane Coade and family immigrated to South Autralia in 1856 on the ship LORD RAGLAN, arriving at Port Adelaide in February 1856 Their children were Jane Coade, Mary Coade and James Coade born 1850. His wife Jane must have died on arrival or soon after. The Register Newspaper reported the ship's arrival and passenger list, which included the whole family under the mis-spelt name of Doade. In September 1856, Edward married again at Glen Osmond Manse in September 1856. The groom's details re father, age, etc validate that this was the right Edward Coade. The bride was Mary Kearns, single, aged approx 17, her father was William Kearns. No date of death has been discovered for his first wife Jane Willoughby.
Some further information was provided by Rose Ward, wife of one of Edward's descendents.
