I want to thank all of you who have put information about the ELY family on this site. It gave me a head start on my grand chilrens paternal family. Since I have been able to connect THOMAS ELY,Sr to the states of Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, Arizona and back to Tennessee. Have covered the ELY family through THOMAS ELY, ISAAC,ELLIAS, JAMES MADISON, JAMES ALVIS,Sr, JAMES ALVIS,JR, JAMES ALVIS,III and down to his children and grand children. My daughter married into the ELY family way back when. The children and grandchildren request that I do some research and let them know where and how they happen into this world with a name as simple as ELY. As it turns out there is quite a bit of information but very little about the people. From appearances they started in this country (USA) in Connecticut, to North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi. From there they sprayed themselves all over the USA. I am looking from information about the individuals. If anyone has any information I would appreciate the help. Thanks, Jim H.

LUELLA RIGGS was born ca 1883 in McMinn Co. Tennessee to JACKSON SMITH RIGGS and SUSAN COBB. SUSAN COBB died in 1885 and JACKSON SMITH RIGGS died in 1888 or 1892 leaving 4 children under 12 years old. Their Names were RUEL MAGAHA, JOHN L, LUELLA, and SUSAN. They apparently lived with their JACKSON SMITH RIGGS mother after SUSAN died in 1885, until 1888 or 1892. They were then adopted by the wife's sister, LOUSIANA (COBB) CHEEK in 1893. That is the last known about LUELLA RIGGS. If anyone has any idea what happened to LUELLA I would be very glad to hear about it. Thanks, Jim H. at ljhan2319@yahoo.com
