I am looking for the ancestors of my greatgrandfather Edward Emmett who immigrated to New Zealand in about the 1870s. He settled in Oamaru, Otago, New Zealand where he married and had two sons. He was born in 1852.

I understand that he may have been born in Tasmania.

I would also be interested in finding out what happened to his son Edward Christopher who may have used either Emmett or Holmes for his surname. He was born in Oamaru 1n 1880, but moved to Australia where I understand he died.
