Looking for Annie HOWE in England before 1887.

I am looking for my Grandmother Annie HOWE. As the story has been told to me by other members of the family, she was born in Enfield, Middlesex London, about 1855. She was bought up by her Uncle, and was educated in a private school, and was accustomed to visiting in the afternoons and dressing for dinner. She was also bought up to attend the Anglican Church regularly.

In the year 1887 she went to Plymouth to board the "SS Doric". She thought she was going on a day trip, but when they were out of sight of any land, she realised this may not so. She went to see the Captain and was told that a second class passage to New Zealand had been booked and paid for her, and her luggage and sewing machine were in the hold.

I would think this would have been extremely traumatic for her.

The other passengers had boarded at London, and at Plymouth the two passengers boarding were according to the passenger list a Mrs HOWE and a Mr.John B. BAKER. Mr. BAKER disembarked at Tenerife.
On the voyage my Grandmother shared a cabin with Mesdame MCCULLUM.

On arriving in New Zealand she was met by two ladies, and lived in Wellington for three weeks before being married to my grandfather Thomas MCKELVEY who lived at Makara Road Karori, Wellington

The details on her marriage certificate are as follows-

Annie HOWE spinster aged 25 born in Enfield Middlesex London -Mother - Lucy MORGAN. Father - Thomas HOWE - Labourer.

As you see by this there is a discrepancy in the birth dates as to be aged 32 on the "Doric", and then married three months later at 25 it is making it very difficult to find her. the two dates I have worked on are 1855 and 1862.

I would be so grateful if there is someone who may be able to solve the mystery of my maternal grandmother for me.
Father - Thomas HOWE - Labourer
