Blunt surname facts
Since I'm researching the Blunt surname it may be helpful to know where the highest density of Blunts where in the UK in approximately 1890's. Highest density is Northants (9% of total), Kent(8%) and Lancashire(7%). The Midlands, Yorks and Essex and Sussex come next with somewhere between 3% and 6%, and the rest of England and Wales with 1% or less.
I started to collect as many Blunt families as I could find and put them on one or two pages. Strangely they seem to be in the West Midlands in the 1861 and 1881 census. Maybe they all got together after this and decided to spread their wings.

If anyone knows of any more get in touch and I'll add them to one of those pages.

Hi...Here I am, several years later, researching my ggg grandfather William Blunt and family. My William Blunt was born in Middlesex, moved to Appledore, Devon and then to Portreath, Cornwall. In Devon, he was known by the surname Bridges -- I have no idea why he changed his family name for a few decades but would truly love to know. He served in the Cornish Coastguard and is recorded in Devon as a mariner. It seems unlikely that my research will tie in with yours as the geographic areas are dissimilar but would still be interesting to compare notes.
Thank you for the interest. My Blunt relatives are definitely confined to the Black country and are well documented by myself. My previous research turned up the facts I posted but I only kept details of the Midlands or very near Midlands area for the Blunt surname.
I founs some here http://www.westmidlandsbmd.org.uk/ Use search box ... type in Blunt and then keep changing the year.
