Archibald William Busby was born 1887 in Collingwood, Victoria, the only known child of Michael William Busby (1834-1923) & his second wife, MARGARET ANNIE MAHER (1857-1924) who were from London & married 4 March 1886 in Glenferrie Road, Hawthorn, Victoria (you have Ann unknown)
Michael William Busby had first married Hannah WOMERSLEY (1835-1885) on 13 Oct 1871 in Pembroke House, Nicholson Street, Collingwood, Victoria & had 4 children in Collingwood:
1872 - 1903 William Edwin Busby (died Wangaratta)
1874 - 1894 Francis Sarah Louisa Busby (died Hawthorn)
1876 - 1945 Albert Ernest Busby (died East Malvern)
1879 - Clara Victoria Ellen Busby
Michael William Busby was born 17 December 1834 in London, 1 of 10 children born to Michael Horton BUSBY (1803-1877) & Louisa ROSE (1806-1866) who both died in Auckland, New Zealand as did most of Michael's siblings
OF NOTE Michael's sister Sarah Louisa Busby (1932-1919) married John Womersley (1837-1918) in Melbourne in 1862. He was probably the brother of Michael's first wife Hannah Womersley

Yes, Archibal's mother was Margaret Annie MAHER, but the informant for Achibald's death did not know the mother's name and I have recorded the details as they appeared in the death records.
And for you ngairedith.
It looks like Clara Victoria Ellen BUSBY died in Cheltenham, Victoria, aged 86 years. The informant named her mother as Ellen unknown. Clara's death was recorded under SAMPSON.
Clara Victoria Ellen BUSBY also had a daughter in Carlton, Victoria, in 1915. Clara named her daughter Edna May BUSBY. Edna's birth was recorded under BUSBY and there was no father named, so Clara may have married this SAMPSON after 1915.
The two marriages for Michael William BUSBY appear in my BUSBY marriages should anyone be interested.

cameron_m65 on 2018-07-24 04:36:27From some research my mother has done, Clara Victoria Ellen BUSBY was never married. The father of each of her 5 children was a Chinese Cabinet Maker by the name of Sam Yick. He is listed as a witness to the birth of Violet on her full Birth Certificate (known to the family as Gladys). This was revealed to a daughter of Ruby (who then shared it with my mother - a daughter of Edna). Clara and Sam separated about 1918 or so and Edna was told her father's name was Ernest Sampson but that he had died when she was young. Subsequently, that is the name declared on her Marriage Certificate. It is believed she took the name Sampson for herself and her children to cover up the Chinese connection.
