Cameron families lived in Wisconsin & Illinois

I would like to find more information on Richard Cameron who went to Ashippun, Dodge County, Wisconsin in 1844. He arrived in New York from Scotland in 1842. His nephew Robert lived in Joliet, Illinois. I cant find Richard before he arrived in Wisconsin. I know Robert is on the 1910 US Census but I have been unable to find a death record for him. I welcome any help you can give me.
