Emma Featherbed, Muncie, Indiana, b.1881

Journal by ejamiso59

My Grandmother told her children that her family name was Featherbed. She married with the last name of Ward to Jeremiah Harris in 1898. She has also associated herself with the last name Parker. I am unable to find anywhere the name of Featherbed. It was determined that a Lillie Smith, who married a Nathan Ward and later married a William Parker, was either her mother or foster mother. Emma indicated on her marriage license that her mother was unknown. If anyone knows anything about a family with the name of Featherbed, I would really appreciate if you could direct me to the source. Thank you.

Also Jeremiah Harris' grandfather's name was Jeremiah Harris also, born 1806. I am stumped as to where he came from. The Canadian census indicated that he was born in the US. I have no idea of who his parents were, whether he was a slave or freeman; how he arrived in Canada. He could have fought with the British Loyalists. I would really love to learn more about his family heritage.

My mother Viola G. Woodlyn's grandparents are unknown also. Her parents James Woodlyn and Mary Woodlyn (Harris) are on the 1920 Detroit census. Her grandparents' first names are on her mother and father's marriage license. Isaac and Sarah are their names. That's is about all I know about them. She was raised by a foster Father and mother. Her 2 brothers (Harold, Albert) took on the name of Hughes (don't know how that happened)sic. I am so confused with all of my family history.
