Dear Ngaire Edith,

I thought you'd like to know that that Martha Bassett (daughter of Francis Bassett and Sarah Parkins) did not marry Kenneth Morrison McKenzie). She married 1. Harry Wood(s)with whom she had a son and from whom she was divorced and in 1914 she married George Megginson Bell with who she had a son and a daughter.

The Martha Bassett who married Kenneth Morrison McKenzie was the daughter of William Thomas Bassett and Ellen Buckley. William was the son of William Henry Bassett (an Irish soldier) and Annie Bassett (no relation). Annie was the sister of Francis Bassett and was later married to William Wood.

I am researching the living members of the family because a family reunion of the descendants of William and Mary (nee Symes) Bassett is planned for mid March 2015 to celebrate 175 years since they (William and Mary) arrived in NZ. They arrived in Petone on the "Duke of Roxburgh" on 8 February 1840.

Cheers
