Hi Paul, firstly i am very envious that you have traced your lineage back so far. The generally accepted maximum for my family is only back to John Greaves (born 1813), married to Mary Wood (born1812). I don't really use Ancestory.com but a visit there suggested that our tree might go from John back to Thomas Greaves (1778), but I have been unable to verify this by finding a connection that makes sense. I am a member of the Graves/Greaves Assoc. of the USA (and no I don't live there, i am in Australia), but they are very active, and they have suggested that probably all Greaves' who live in and around Stepney/Bethnal green are likely to be related somehow. Only DNA testing can verify this. In fact i have had the DNA tests, but so far it has not provided a link to anyone specific.

So, i really wish I could actually find a common ancestor between us, but at this point I can't. I really appreciate yopur response, and i will keep your reply on record just in case one day i can find that connection.

Cheers from "Down Under".

Rob
