Emily Alice KRUGER was born 4 Nov 1884 in Queensland, Australia
* Emily married Southerly James CURTIS in 1903 in Wellington, New Zealand
* May Elizabeth Leitch Curtis was born 3 Oct 1907 and adopted by Southerly & Emily 21 Feb 1908 but in March 1908 Southerly & Emily (then in Alicetown, Lower Hutt) were accused of having been paid £20 (today approx $3,500) to take the child and for caring for her for more than 7 days without being licensed as foster parents ... more here
.. It wasn't until Sep 1908 that the Magistrate imposed a nominal fine of 1s each
* Emily Alice (Curtis) next married Walter Henry HIGHSTED (1880-1941) in 1924 in Wellington
.. They were in Blenheim in 1917
* Walter Henry Highsted died 4 June 1941 and is buried Kelvin Grove, Palmerston North
* Emily Alice (Highsted) died 3 July 1968 aged 84

I don't think May Elizabeth did marry
She had Audrey Curtis in 1925 and a set of twins in 1928
We will have to wait for Sharma to verify
janilye on 2016-02-12 06:35:41Emily Alice KRUGER was the daughter of Alexander William KRUGER and his wife Ellen Eliza, nee BARRETT. Alexander and Ellen were married in Queensland in 1883.
Their other children were:
Elizabeth Charlotte, b.1886, William Robert, b.1887
John Harry, b.1889, Nellie Louisa Fredericka, b.1892,
Lilly Florence, b.1893

but we are going in the other direction entirely ~ trying to find the biological parents of Emily Alice's adopted daughter (after Emily was married). I have quite a bit and will pm you in a sec as a bit delicate but it could help (us? lol) find more
