I'm looking for people that are part of the Gard or Guthrie family. My mom is a Guthrie and my dad is a Gard.
I'm doing as much as I can to look into the ancestry of the gard family but I'm unsuccessful (I don't want to pay any monthly fees) but I also want to learn more about the Guthrie line as of well.

Your question is a bit general and if you want help then you will have to provide some details, names and places any dates you might know.
If you do not want to pay fees there are free sites. You can get a lot of information for a basic family tree from www.familysearch.com/search.
Gard is a version of the English word Guard from the Old French Garde to look or watch. a watchman. I would suggest from the spelling of your surname you might look for French ancestors.
Guthrie is a Scottish name Place Name and means "windy place" Old Gaelic gaothair It has also been derived from the anglicized version of "Mag Uchtre" Scottish Surname and the "Irish O Flaithimh"
This comes from The "Oxford Names Companion" 2002 Edition
