Hello! My name is Dick and I am new to this site. My ancestors are mostly French Canadian and I have researched from my original North American ancestor (Francois) who arrived in Quebec in late 1699 or early 1700.The family surname is Baribeau. Along the way,my gggrandfather, Michel, Married a woman named Elizabeth Pace in 1841 (Quebec). Elizabeth Pace was the daughter of Soloman Pace (m.in 1805 (Quebec)to Marie Alary). Marriage records for Solomon and Marie indicate Solomon was the son of a Thomas Pace and a "Jeaminey" or "Jemima" from North Carolina, USA. No last name for Jemima. Based on his age at death, Solomon was born around 1781. I am assuming in NC. No proof yet.

I have not been able to find the right Thomas Pace in NC, nor his deceased wife Jemima. She was deceased prior to the time Solomon married Marie Alary. There are several Thomas Paces but their ages seem to preclude from being my Thomas Pace. I estimate that my Thomas was born about 1750 -1760, but I do not know where.

I have found other Solomon Paces in NC but they are not sons of any Thomas Pace.

Some other researcher mentioned the possibility that Thomas Pace may have been a Loyalist (Tory) who may have left NC for Canada after the Rev. War.

If anyone out there has any insight into my query and has any suggestion on how I should proceed, I will be most appreciative!
