was born 8 Oct 1883 in Preston, West Sussex, the 4th of 8 children of Augustus Diplock (1852-) & Barbara Frost (1852-1922)
Thanks to familydetective's comment below (2015), John & Edith married in 1903. They had a son, William Godfrey (1904-1978) who died in NZ
John & Edith emigrated into Auckland on the 'Rangitoto' 31 Aug 1959. John is listed as aged 79 and retired. It is assumed that their son William was already in NZ by then and is a possible reason they moved here at that age
John died on 6 June 1971 aged 91
Edith Annie died on 22 Aug 1970 aged 87
They are buried in Plot 13 & 14, Block 2 in Ashhurst
NOTE
A William Godfrey married Agnes May Hay (1909-1985) in 1937
* daughter of William Hay & Daisy Ethel Wates
