There were 3 Simoons that I know of.
1.The British navy ship HMS Simoon of the middle to late 1800s.
2. The steamer Simoon, I THINK it came from New York but I don't know if that was where it was registered or whether it was just it's departure port. It was in Sydney and Melbourne about the middle of 1909. Don't ask me for a record, I'm going on memory of something I read.
3.Also during the second world war there was a submarine called the Simoon

In 1869/70, 1,000 dockyard workers emigrated to Canada from Portsmouth one of the ships carrying some of these immigrants was the HMS Simoon

Thanks I found what I needed the HMS Simoom arrived in New Zealand on the 4 January 1862 sailing from Glasgow.
