Requesting assistance as have hit a brick wall. I have been trying to locate information on my Paternal Grandmother, her name is Edith Irene Barker she gave birth to my father on 17th June 1916 at Gleadless Road, Eccesall Bierlow Sheffield, she named dad Frank. I have my fathers birth certificate and details are scant it appears Edith was unwed when she gave birth to him, all my UK relative and parents have since died and I have no way of obtaining any further information.
Birth Certificate states mothers name as Edith Irene Barker, domestic servant, Gleadless Road Eccesall Bierlow
dad was named Frank Brownlow BARKER, father unknown.
I do know that my grandfather Frank Brownlow Senior(c1896) was the father and I am unsure if Edith Barker is her maiden or married name. I found a couple of Edith Irene Barker's but seem to have come to a dead end from 1916. Can you provide and suggestions as until dad's death we did not realise that he was illegitimate.
